This is a short clip about a selection of work undertaken by us.
In the video you can see...: Shelving - Constructed to enable an otherwise dead space in an area of low headroom steel roof trusses to be used for storage. The 3 c's - There are many ways to cut costs – thankfully we are aware of most of them and make sure such deployment occurs by request and not as a means of unwelcome short cuts to save money at your cost. Steps - Notice the handrail folds down to allow for obstructed headroom and folds up to access the safety platform, automatically protecting the operator at height. You won’t find this device on our website which is why we think our site surveys are so important and then construction is sympathetic to the application. A lift - This lifting device was specially constructed as a low cost means of loading conveyor into the back of a lorry to speed up off loading in a very confined space. 2 Tier - Two tier pallet racking handles up to 5 tonnes (or more) a square metre and allows you to use the full cubic potential of your building. This compares to a mezzanine floor which in standard format will take half a tonne. It is certainly not 10 times more expensive and so makes a very cost effective option. Construction - The construction of the floor can be clearly seen. Hot rolled mill sections with cheaper inset cold rolled sections completing the frame work onto which a timber floor is laid. By insetting in this manner the demand on headroom is considerably reduced over other methods, making it both strong and operationally economical to use. Conveyors - This job came out of the necessity to focus on productivity and distribution. The packs are awkward to handle and there was a need to cut out complicated programming by substituting it with simpler mechanical devices – it paid off. Storage in Bulk - There are many ways to bulk store and process work. Two metre wide aisles are about as narrow as you can go before very narrow aisle storage is the only option – this is an area of specialization for us and the example allows manual and mechanical picks to safely proceed together. Narrow Aisle Trucks - According to the experts 24 to 30 cycles per hour is what can be achieved with this amazing machine - that represents 120 tonnes or 85 cubic metres of materials moved, or put another way 2 to 4 heavy goods vehicles of stock – just incase 30 cycles didn’t sound very much! With articulated trucks, as you can see in this clip, huge space savings are achievable and there are a variety of very fast pick options to explore. A dock solution, a jetty conversion - We had 4 loading docks but needed another 3 cheaply and quickly – conventional construction has a door onto which the lorry backs and then a leveler to bridge the gap. This system uses dock plates but leaves big gaps at the side – an accident waiting to happen. Look at the way the gates open and lock to contain and guide equipment and also provide a barrier to allow safe passage with “right to the back” filling for the trailer. All the rails lift out so any damage is cheap to repair. The whole jetty is weather proofed with a steel framed PVC clad building – cheap, flexible and quick to erect. Cranes in action - These are not just cranes - they were the result of a 40 hour study and 38 years of experience that removed 35% off the starting budget for 2 x 5 tonne cranes, a 16 tonne and a 10 tonne overhead electric travelling crane which included all the latest electrical gadgets to make repair and operations very reasonably priced. They are locally serviced and supported and made in Spain. Two Tier lite shelving system - This is another Spanish product serviced by a leading UK stockist with whom we have a close and longstanding working relationship. It is fast to build, cheap and fully compliant with UK building regulations – It is manufactured from shelving components and simply clips together. It was a welcome alternative for a fast response to a customer’s new business opportunity – now rapidly growing. Quarantining - When you need to lock it up or keep it separate from the rest of your stock, here is how we do it.
The video below gives you an introduction to some of our recent projects
Projects Factory Contstruction - This is our latest project to conclude. It features ‘in floor’ electrical ducting, cranes and a mezzanine floor under which offices were constructed. Cranage - The crane structure was a complicated design and crossed two sets of standards. Understanding these saved over £135,000 in unnecessary materials. It had to be carefully examined and agreed by two engineering institutions before we could build it. Our multi disciplined approach means we can transfer skills and knowledge across engineering boundaries to ensure you obtain the most metal for the least cost by engaging the correctly equipped people do the work they are best at. Special Racks - Few manufacturers of rack would attempt to combine a cantilever principle into conventional cold rolled sections designed only to take vertical loads. With experience and understanding of how materials perform, these racks were constructed at half the price and twice the density enabling our customer to keep their costs tighter than those of their competitors. These have since been unsuccessfully copied on two occasions on a DIY basis with predictable results. Special Hydraulic Storage Container - Developed for a client and provided complete with a patent application and drawings. This system was designed from a blank sheet, it is six times faster than the bench mark model and approximately a third of the cost. Two Tier - Submitted and recently accepted as part of three alternative designs for a proposed new business operation. This is the design finally accepted and built. Method - When you engage us we offer a range of ‘off the page’ solutions, design and project management as well as supply, build and install facilities. We will help you choose the best options at the time for your requirement. Literature - Our up to date literature features help and prices on a range of issues, most of which are fully priced to help you move your work forward quickly – our website is updated daily to keep up with price and specification changes and it offers other options on our catalogued products and services. Bespoke Work - We will build most things for you
In this clip you will see prime quality materials, machine tools and supporting skills in operation – this is what your money is being used for when you engage us
As engineers we only work with first grade products – that way we know our costs, calculations, safety risk assessments, installation procedure and operating performances and of course you are receiving a measurable result every time at a reasonable price. We have automatic machine tools, all the qualified engineers, designers, engineering equipment and procedures we need to enable us to design and construct exactly what you need and expect to arrive. This film is made on location and represents what happens when you give us an order – we have featured Troax to represent what 50 years of accumulated techniques and experience does to guarantee the quality and performance of engineering – they are by no means alone, all our suppliers offer these sort of skills and clean working environments. It only takes a few minutes to reflect upon the fact you are watching the product of 12 generations of engineering and the work of millions of people who have gone before us to pioneer the way to the high standards we all enjoy today – we are privileged to be able to continue the tradition. Material quality - Rust, short lengths, corrosion, second quality, chemical content and manufacturing process are all hugely important considerations. If you can’t guarantee condition then you can’t guarantee safety performance or most of all that the money you hand over is fairly represented in the goods for which you have made the exchange. This clip starts with shots of clean components and first quality stock. The sheen is the oil used to maintain this quality through to painting – it also ensures a high quality paint finish – this is typical of a quality production plant and is environmentally friendly. Construction methods - The material sourcing and tooling are all important in the lead up to assembly. Poor tooling delays other processes up the line which then turns into a downward spiral that can only lead eventually to the demise of the operation. When goods arrive on site they fit poorly and cause delays to the installers who try to correct the faults. Good tooling and design prevents that happening. That is what your money is spent on and policed by us to ensure your investment with us is a pleasing expectation when it arrives on location. When to use skill over automation - If there is no robot in this clip it means the cost is more than that of a skilled operator – this way you achieve a balance between standardization and flexibility Flexibility - Flexibility also extends between companies and transferable equipment to achieve tasks in the field. You will find this is a major benefit when dealing with us – we solve a lot of problems this way and you cannot obtain this service anywhere else. Tooling - Tooling to our manufacturing bases is like learning, it is constantly on going. We keep records on condition and function and a great deal of time and effort goes in to tooling improvements with supporting levels of training and investment. Assembly - Factory built equipment saves time on site as it is always quicker to construct in a purpose built environment. It means the fixings and assembly techniques enable very fast build times on site, especially with partitioning where you can create new work space and controlled environments in a matter of a few hours. Handling - Anything built remotely must be transported with a corresponding risk to damage. The manufacturing techniques are carefully constructed to ensure the base products are kept entirely free of damage. Finish - Painting leaves the finished article in beautiful condition but susceptible to marking and scratches in transit. Our factories have many solutions to this problem but Troax is particularly good at ensuring very economical but maximum product protection. We have tried many alternative suppliers to save cost in consultation with our customers and never been able to match this level of quality at the price. Speed of production - Investment in assembly and storage equipment is what we are about so you would expect our own production plants to be correctly equipped – and they are. Method - A great deal of thought goes into what we and our suppliers do, the methods have taken years to evolve and are constantly under review for investment, training and process opportunities. For this reason the clips are necessarily restricted, however we would be happy to arrange factory visits to any of our suppliers in any location. Transport - As much thought goes into our transport as it does to all aspects of our business – you can expect your goods on time, in excellent condition every time. |
